Hello Sanders clan,
I will write fast and in stylish bullet points for I
only have a fraction of time due to our P-Day festivities!
-WOW!
My jaw just about dropped and my heart lurched with spiritual grandeur
after reading about Paige Rabb´s story... wow! I hope she´s alright,
and am glad that she was able to have that experience, as scary as it
may have been. I´m SO glad it ended well.
-We have found a new family this week, and they are what we call
GOLDEN! It´s an 18 year old member wife and her non-member super
spiritually hungry husband, Alex, and he is to be baptized in 2 weeks!
And he´s already attended church for a month and received an answer to
his prayer through a mega-dream! BLESSINGS!
-Looks like you had fun at the zoo, how´s the family? (plus, Elder
Wells, the missionary who sent chantel a letter, would love a letter, or
even a note in return)
-Hm. not too much happened. Well, the
change is over in 2 weeks! So I think I´ve made some room in my
suitcases, so if you wish, you can ask me for some stuff to buy here in
Otavalo, and I´ll do my best to see if I can get them!
-MEGA PLUS- congrats to Noah for returning strong from his mission! Ask him to send a letter for me,
(in fact, ask ALL friends in hearing range to write me, I haven´t received a letter from them since December!)
Well, I hope you´re all well, and to close here is my spiritual thought:
Having
true faith in Christ is not just believing in Him, but to believe Him.
True faith is not just believing he exists, but to trust in his word,
and to believe that he truly loves us and that we can take confidence in
the Atonement. That´s faith!
-Elder Eden Sanders, OUT!
(forgot my camera cord, sorry! No photos this week!)

Week #52

HELLO! This week, as you can see, you are as gifted as a child on Christmas to get some land letter action! (my only wish is that you can read the handwriting, for it was on a bus....)
BUT!!! Enjoy, and feast on them welll!

The
photo from our `invasion`, me contacting a door that is completely
sealed in plaster (no idea why, but it was funny!), the mountain by our
house on fire (GASP! alas, it has stopped now!), and the letters of
wonder, I hope they are in order!
Week #51
¡Ali Shamushka Capachi! or, welcome! How is everyone faring today?
I
am doing rather swell, thanks for your letters! They we´re wonderful,
it sounds as if your journey to California was as peachy as ever! But
how nice! Dad is excited for mission work, Chantel is rock climbing,
Meikayla is still a golf expert, Madison has a fling for bacon, I´m
well, and super congrats to JORDAN! Preparing to serve the Lord! ¡Ful
Exito! Ah, it sounds as if it´s been a busy week!
As
for us, well, I´d say it went well. We found a new investigator,
sister Yolanda , who is well, and the parents of the Family
F accepted a baptismal date! (But, they failed to
attend church and may need a new one to be baptized on time!) Olga is
still UN-progressive, although we have a lesson with her family this
next week, and we gave Brother R a priesthood blessing so that
he´ll be able to come to church, because he has ALOT of leg-pain
problems, (which is only one of his many obstacles to overcome to be
ready for baptism), but all in all, we´ve been busy but not too
successful in a conversion sense.
But
as for a good story, my companion this past week has been inflicted
with all manner of canker-sores in his mouth, and we´ve been looking for
some medicine or a remedy to help him. And it seems as if whenever their´s disease mixed in with an all natural village, everyone is a
pharmacist and has their own special remedies for everything. (for
example, our neighbor saw my eyes were red from allergies and suggested I
take some leaves from the tree nearby, make a tea, and rub it into my
eye! I did not do it... ;) ) But, the best one we heard, was that a
store owner claimed she had a great remedy to help my companion with
his canker sores. She told us to do the following; to go down the
street where this one man lives who has some black dirt in front of his
house, and he is to take this black dirt, make mud of it, and rub it 9
times on his BELLY-BUTTON to get rid of his mouth sores. Pretty legitimate, eh? We were trying SO HARD not to laugh when she was sharing
it with us, it was great.
But, as for a spiritual thought, I´d like to share the power of the word PONDER.
What
is pondering? Simply, it´s just sitting and contemplating gospel
principles or scriptures, but it can open up the gateway to revelation.
For example, in the book of
Nephi, it describes that Nephi was sitting, pondering the words his
father said about the tree of life vision, and was ´caught up in the
spirit´ and had a grand vision. later, in our dispensation, Joseph F
Smith was reading his scriptures, and started to ponder about the
atonement, when, he too was ´caught up in the spirit´ and D&3
section 130 was revealed to him. (Go to your Doctrine and Covenants and
read the chapter heading to the section along with the first few
verses, it is powerful!)
But really, it is rather
simple, but can be great if used well. In Moroni 10;3-5, it describes
that to know the Book of Mormon is true, we must 1-read it 2-ponder it
in our hearts and 3 pray to God if it is true, and if we do so, then the
answer shall be revealed through the Holy Ghost.
Great, huh? Take some time to slow down and ponder, it will do you well!
Well, I´m off! Good luck to you all!

PHOTOS;
Here are some pictures of; Us eating bacon, SUPER rare in Ecuador,
(but odd because they kill pigs practically every other day!), a beetle
we found outside of a members house, for a sizing, it´s about as big as
the palm of your hand, aka HUGE!!! our new fridge (full of mold and
dead bugs, ugh!) and I contemplating how cozy it is to put a Couch in
front of your desk instead of a hard, metal chair. ;D
PS-
as for the title, I ate a meal of beans, potatoes, nuts, and corn at a
baptism... using only my fingers! What fun! It´s not that I´m improper,
but that´s just how the culture is!
